The Indie Life: Third Time's A Charm

Happy Easter to everyone celebrating the resurrection today and shout out to those who aren't. After you finish spending time with your family or doing whatever you do on Sundays in the Spring, make your way to U Street Music Hall tonight for this month's edition of The Indie Life Concert Series. Unlike the previous concerts in the series (February, March), this month's edition features a couple of signed artists mixed in with up-and-comers on the independent scene.

If you've paid any attention to the last two XXL Freshmen classes, then you should already be familiar with the co-headliners. Starting with Freddie Gibbs, the Gary, Indiana native who recently signed with Young Jeezy's C.T.E. label and finishing with Big K.R.I.T., who recently released the classic street album entitled Return of 4eva, tonight's show promises to be nothing short of epic.

In addition to K.R.I.T. and Gibbs, GFCNY's very own Smoke Dza will be hitting the D.M.V. with his mary jane-laced flow while hometown representers SmCity and Muggsy Malone put on for the area. Kicking the show of will be the Greensboro/ATL/DC/Phoenix collective known as FSM.

And just in case the line-up doesn't provide you with enough music, the homie Jerome Baker III will be on the 1's and 2's to get the crowd hyped.

Tickets are a cool $20, so get there early. You don't want to be stuck standing in front of the 7-11 watching everyone else walk in.
