Recently, the Queens native known as Bam Bam dropped his new mixtape Blue Chips 2. Having missed the boat on the majority of his earlier work (save for guest appearances on other artist's projects), I had no idea what to expect. So what I got was exactly that, the unexpected. Using a handful of non-traditional HipHop tracks including Tequila, most notably made famous by Pee Wee Herman, Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, and Tracy Chapman's Give Me One Reason among others, Bronson delivers the intricate and comical word play that listeners have come to expect.

In addition to the interesting choices in music, another unexpected inclusion is the infusion of random audio clips ranging from Allen Iverson's infamous "Practice" rant to Phil Mickelson's Embrel commercial. On the one hand, the Iverson clip kind of makes sense and on the other, none of it makes sense whatsoever. I suppose the more that Bronson's words sink it, the reasons behind their inclusion will be revealed. Or maybe I'll find out that they are included simply to mess with the listener. Who knows? In either case, they're hilarious and keep you engaged as you wonder what's coming next.
Whether you're collecting a late pass like me or have been listening to Bronson since "day one," Blue Chips 2 is an interesting ride through the mind of . I'll be soaking up the mixtape as well as going through his back catalog to catch-up. I suggest you do the same.
