New Music: KingPen Slim - She Loves Me

As he mentioned when I reached out to him a couple months ago, KingPen Slim is back with new music. Instead of dropping one song, he took it back to the cassette single days and dropped an A-side/B-side-like one, two combo on us instead.

She Love Me features Slim talking through the ups and downs of relationships while Show Must Go On finds the D.C. native speaking on the same subject, only this time in the context of pursuing his dreams. Both joints were produced by Mark Henry, who happens to be on a tear right now if you haven't been paying attention.

Show Must Go On

ATM ft Tabi Bonney - Sleep Walkin'

As much as I should be talking about ATM and the fact that Sleep Walkin' is the second leak from his upcoming Friday at the Currency Exchange mixtape, I'd much rather talk about Sleep Walkin's featured artist, Tabi Bonney. I noticed that he'd been relatively quiet as of late, both in music and on Twitter. So this feature came through at the perfect time as it's always dope to her the SoCal transplant do what he does best.

So without wasting more of your time, check out ATM's Sleep Walkin' featuring Tabi Bonney. Then, Keep Going for to re-live Yesterday's Sativa

Sleep Walkin' was produced by Sen Beatz.

Black Cobain - Thank You

I aint forcing you to understand
I just say respect the master plan

Lyriciss - The Reflection

On October 29th, I dropped my debut independent album, The Balance. Since then, I’ve provided y’all with a couple new videos (Big Gold Chain & Calling For You), done a good amount of shows and interviews, but no new music. Just know that it’s because I’ve been hard at work, getting everything set up for one hell of a year in 2014. I’m officially unsigned, making the transition to being in full control of my path and truly building this HVNTS brand and movement, reconnecting with my fans and supporters, and bringing you better music that I’ve ever created. As a gift to everyone who supported my album and my career to this point, I present to you The Reflection, a freestyle over recently-signed TDE artist Isaiah Rashad‘s “I Shot You Down.”

Interview: Pusha T & DJ Heat

There's a whole lot of ways that I could describe DJ Heat. Sneaker Geek. Comedienne. Blogger. Radio Host. Core DJ representer. Chris Brown stan. Ultimately, the biggest and best of them all is genuinely good person. Over the last 5+ years, Heat has been providing a platform for artists in the DMV with a platform to share their music with the masses. Never one to throw shade, Heat shows love to all that have the dream of being the next artist we all love to love and/or love to hate.

Last week, while Pusha T was in town for a show, Heat caught up with Mr. My Name is My Name to discuss everything from his debut album to news about the rumored Clipse reunion. Do yourself a favor and see why the interview had (and still does) the net on fire these past couple of days.

Besides Heat pulling the exclusive out of Neighborhood Push (again, setting the net on fire!) and proving that timing is EVERYTHING, how dope is that part about being back in the studio with The Neptunes? You can damn near feel the positive vibes Push gives off when talking about it. And as a longtime fan, just the sheer notion of those rhymes over those beats is enough to put it at the top of the " most anticipated" list.

Video: Oddisee - Own Appeal

Ever wonder where Oddisee finds inspiration? What about his recording process? Living up to his name, Oddisee gives you some answers before giving you his Own Appeal.
I don't monitor the hits
An I don't monitor the clicks
I monitor the snare drum and
the bottom of kicks
Is anybody left that still fuck this true shit
then let me hear you scream over top of this Cru shit

I think it's fair to say this song was inspired in part by Slick Rick. First, let's start the name drop mentioned above. Cru's Just Another Case sampled Rick the Ruler's Children's Story. Then don't tell me you don't Dougie Fresh encouraging you to go and "come on," right? Tell me that Slick Rick connection doesn't Show.

Own Appeal is featured on Tangible Dream.

New Music: Extra - Clouds

Take a trip to the Clouds with Extra by way of the beautiful San Francisco skyline. Then Keep Going to check out the full version of the song.

Don't burn no bridges for diggin' because the tunnel long
At least that's what a bum told me coming home
Take advantage, not granted, of what you come across
Play position it's better if you the underdog
If you really wanna be a mufuckin' boss

Album: PHZ-Sicks - The Moment

I gave you the head's up on Monday that The Moment was dropping on Tuesday. It's now Thursday, so hopefully you took some initiative and gave the album a few spins and downloaded it. If not, I'm here for you. But first, let's hear from the man of the hour, day, week, month....

“The album is called The Moment because I feel with everything I put into it, this is the moment where my life changes. Where I get to pursue this passion like there is no tomorrow and finally [reap] the rewards of the sacrifices I made to get to this point."
So without further adieu, check out The Moment:

PHZ warned us that Love Scene III was going to the next level once the album dropped. He didn't lie and the song doesn't disappoint. If you're up on your 90's R&B, you won't be able to do anything other than jam out and smile while doing it.

Now that you've had a chance to preview it, download here. You can also hit that link to cop a signed hard copy.

New Music: Logic - Like Me

Considering that I'm not getting it like Logic or Casey Veggies, I'll sit the this one out and simply enjoy the music.

Some of your favorite rappers might be in trouble if dudes that have actual lyrical ability start merging into the flossing lane a little more often.

Video: PHZ-Sicks - Coming Down

Before releasing his new album, PHZ-Sicks takes listeners (and viewers) on a quick trip down memory lane in Coming Down (ft TFox, prod by Best Kept Secret).

As I stated above, PHZ-Sicks new project, The Moment, drops tomorrow. Keep Going for cover art track listing and guest features.

Video: Kali Uchis - Por Vida

Upon first glance of the screen shot below, I thought I might be getting tricked into watching a Kreyshawn and/or V-Nasty video. As it turns out, I found yet another song (group of songs) that continues adding to my current appreciation for airy, trance-inducing songs. Check out Por Vida from VA-native, Kali Uchis as she takes you on a bit of a journey, both visually and musically.

Everybody wants it, everybody's waiting
Baby you should know that you're everything I'm craving
Can we take it slow, telling myself to be patient
Life is miserable every time the time is wasted

The video is a self-directed visual for Kali's upcoming project entitled Por Vida. It features scenes from Colombia, NYC and Freak City in Los Angelesnd a three unreleased tracks that were produced by JFK.

Por Vida is expected to drop in early 2014.

New Music: PHZ-Sicks - The Love Scene III

What would a PHZ-Sicks mixtape or album be without the continuing story that is The Love Scene?

As he prepares for the release of his new project, The Moment, PHZ-Sicks connects with Alison Carney and Scolla to get you in the "zone, zone" with the third chapter in The Love Scene series.

“I feel ‘The Love Scene III’ is the best of the series and Scolla and Alison took the song to another level,” says PHZ. “The craziness of the beat is a good idea of what is expected off of The Moment and this is version of The Love Scene III is just a sample. It gets even more amazing on the album.

The Moment drops next Tuesday.

Video: Pro'Verb - Pound Cake Freestyle

Pro'Verb hops on Drake's Pound Cake to let off some steam.

And they ask me who the best rapper (who)
You can keep rap, I'm the best pastor
This is gospel. N*gga, I'm the best chapter
Why? Cause it's in my chromosomes, X-factor

Be on the lookout for Pro's new mixtape, ReVenge, which is scheduled to drop in early 2014.
